Jon Tester: Doing what’s right for Montana. Always.
Rehberg tested his credibility on Bozeman’s KMMS radio Wednesday morning. His comments need fact-checking—shot-and-chaser style:
As the U.S. House of Representatives prepares to go on a five-week break, Congressman Dennis Rehberg has rejected a 5-year bipartisan Farm Bill.
Tester spent the last two years advocating for the law which expedites home development on reservations. Current practice requires all mortgages to be approved by the U.S. Department of the Interior–a process that can take several years.
Today there’s word that Rehberg won’t even pass a one-year extension of the current farm bill.
Rehberg’s proposal completely eliminates AmeriCorps, a volunteer service organization that provides Montana with nearly 1,200 volunteers who will perform 70,000 service hours this year alone.
“I am proud to stand with the IAFF as we build a better future for this nation’s fire fighters and all working folks,” Tester said, noting recent efforts to undermine pensions and cut benefits for firefighters.
Congressman Dennis Rehberg is taking another week-long break from his own job.
Tester’s efforts were blocked by the Senate allies of Congressman Dennis Rehberg, a longtime opponent of legislation promoting equal pay for equal work.
Construction workers and builders across Montana are throwing their support behind Jon Tester’s Senate campaign with a unanimous endorsement from the Montana Building and Construction Trades Council.
