Rehberg: tax increases for families, tax cuts for millionaires

FACT CHECK: lobbyist turned congressman voted for 10 tax increases

BILLINGS, Mont.—Montanans for Tester is drawing attention to Congressman Dennis Rehberg’s ten votes to raise taxes on Montana families after an out-of-state special interest group launched another false attack ad Friday.

A full fact check of the new ad, paid for by the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee, is online HERE.

The National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee is the same organization that embarrassed itself by falsely portraying Jon Tester with  all five fingers on his left hand – even though he lost three fingers in a childhood accident.

Just last month Rehberg voted to protect tax breaks for fellow multimillionaires while increasing taxes for Montana’s working families. Prior to that Rehberg voted for the largest tax increase on Montana families in history.

The lobbyist-turned-Congressman also admitted that he relies on lobbyists to give him information which explains Rehberg’s efforts to protect tax cuts for special interests and corporations that ship jobs overseas—regardless of how his special interest agenda hurts middle-class Montanans.

During his12 years in Congress Rehberg voted to raise the debt ceiling 10 times and the national debt has gone up by $10 trillion dollars since the Rehberg took office.

“Dennis Rehberg turned his back on Montana’s families and voted to raise their taxes while protecting tax breaks for fellow multimillionaires,” said Montanan’s for Tester spokeswoman Alexandra Fetissoff. “Dennis Rehberg’s has forgotten that he works for Montana not lobbyists and giant corporations.”
