Once Again, Matt Rosendale Calls on His Billionaire Reinforcements to Help Mislead Montanans
Billings—This week, Chicago billionaire Richard Uihlein’s super PAC poured more money into Montana to try and distort Jon Tester’s record and make him into something he’s not. Once again, they can’t even get the basics right—with an actor who has all ten fingers.
The only thing Restoration PAC “covered up” in its latest ad was the fact that Tester fights for Montanans every single day—and East Coast developer Matt Rosendale is out for himself.
Rosendale’s record has proven that he is nothing but a rubber-stamp for his party bosses and billionaire donors, even if it means supporting policies that hurt Montana.
Rosendale supported a budget-busting tax plan that gave a permanent tax break to rich corporations and the wealthiest Americans in the country. The cost? Adding $2 trillion to the national debt for our children and grandchildren to pay off, and putting funding for critical programs like Medicare and Social Security on the chopping block.
Rosendale has also offered his full-throated support for Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, while ignoring Gorsuch’s vote to throw Montana small businesses under the bus. Gorsuch was the deciding vote to force Montana small businesses to collect and remit an online sales tax for other states, despite Montanans overwhelmingly opposing a sales tax. Jon Tester wasted no time in rolling up his sleeves and introducing a bill to reverse the decision and protect Montana small businesses from the damaging decision.
And try as he might to cover it up, Rosendale has voted over and over again AGAINST legislation that would would make Montanans safer. As a state legislator, Rosendale voted to cut funding for an agency that coordinates counterterrorism efforts in Montana and against creating a sexual assault prosecution office.
At the end of the day, Matt Rosendale only serves his out-of-state dark money groups, his wealthy donors, and himself. Case in point: he dropped fines and charges as state auditor against a top campaign donor after he took office. Montanans need an independent fighter in Washington looking out for them and their families—not a rubber-stamp for the Washington smear machine.
“There isn’t enough outside money in the world that could cover up Matt Rosendale’s record of putting Montana families on the back burner,” said Montanans for Tester spokesperson Luke Jackson. “Montanans know that Rosendale will never be an independent fighter on their behalf—because he’s only ever been in it for himself.”
