Montanans for Tester Releases Video of Trump Praising Tester’s Bills

At Montana Rally Yesterday, Trump Touted Two Veterans Bills…That Tester Wrote

Billings—Today, Senator Jon Tester’s campaign released a video featuring clips from President Trump’s Montana rally last night where the president praised two of Tester’s veterans bills.

Trump spoke at length about the VA Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act, which protects whistleblowers who report problems at the VA and improves VA accountability, and the VA MISSION Act, which gives veterans more access to health care options if the VA isn’t able to meet their health care needs. Tester wrote both bills.

You can see the clip from the rally, and accompanying news coverage, in THIS VIDEO:

Trump’s admiration for Tester’s bills during what was supposed to be a partisan political rally to attack Tester did not go unnoticed. Read what the press is saying about last night:

The Atlantic—“When, during the rally, Trump bragged about signing the Tester-sponsored VA Accountability Act (without mentioning Tester’s role), the senator’s campaign blasted it to reporters.”

Missoulian—“Trump also took credit for passing legislation reforming the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. While the line brought wild cheers from the crowds, both bills Trump cited  — the VA Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act and the VA MISSION Act — were co-authored by Tester.”

CNN—“But shortly after attacking Tester, he touted his efforts to bring accountability to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs an two bills that Tester helped write: the VA MISSION Act and VA Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act.
