Montanans for Tester Launch New Ad on Jon’s Work Defending Montana’s Farmers and Ranchers

Jon Tester Stands Up for Montana’s Farmers in New Statewide Television Ad

Billings—Today, Big Sandy farmer and United States Senator Jon Tester released a new statewide television ad for his 2018 re-election campaign. The ad features Tester’s efforts in the U.S. Senate to defend Montana’s farmers and ranchers by reaching across the aisle and fighting for a farm bill that protects Montana’s interests.

In the 30-second television spot, “Every Year,” Tester talks about his life as a Montana farmer and making a living off the land. As the only working farmer in the U.S. Senate, Tester always holds Washington accountable to Montana’s family farmers and ranchers.

“Jon will never stop fighting for Montana’s farmers and ranchers,” said Christie Roberts, campaign manager for Montanans for Tester. “Jon Tester farms the same land his grandparents homesteaded more than a century ago. He understands firsthand the struggles that come from making a living off the land in Montana, and he won’t let politics make it any harder. We can count on Jon Tester to keep the Washington swamp away from Montana’s farmland.”

As a member of the powerful Senate Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee, Tester is relentless when it comes to defending Montana’s family farmers and ranchers.

He knows Montana grows and raises the best product in the world, which is why he is fighting for a strong, bipartisan Farm Bill that protects crop insurance and invests in rural communities. Tester attached an amendment to the Farm Bill that helps identify new Ag Risk Coverage boundaries and will lead to significant program improvements for Montana’s wheat producers.

Tester also fought for several other provisions which will help Montana. The bill would reauthorize critical USDA Rural Development Grants, include livestock health provisions and timely disaster assistance programs. It would also keep the popular Conservation Stewardship Program.

In addition, Tester has held a number of public Farm Bill listening sessions across Montana over the past year to make sure he is doing right by Montana’s farmers and ranchers.
