Montana State Council of Professional Fire Fighters Endorses Farmer Jon Tester in Campaign for United States Senate

Billings—Today, the Montana State Council of Professional Fire Fighters endorsed third-generation Montanan and United States Senator Jon Tester in his re-election campaign. Tester has always gone to bat for firefighters in all corners of Montana, including pushing to get rural fire departments the resources they need.

Earlier this Congress, President Trump signed Tester’s bill into law that reauthorized funding for the Assistance to Firefighters and Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant programs. The programs help departments around the country and Montana with staffing, training and equipment. Trump also signed Tester’s Honoring Hometown Heroes bill into law. That bill honors first responders who die in the line of duty.

“Montana firefighters regularly put their lives on the line to keep our families, our homes, and our state safe,” said Sen. Jon Tester. “I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the Montana State Council of Professional Fire Fighters, and I will relentlessly fight in the Senate to make sure Montana’s firefighters get the resources they need to keep Big Sky Country safe.”

“Jon has been a grizzly bear in the Senate for getting Montana’s firefighters the resources we need to stay safe as we keep Montana safe,” said Joel Fassbinder, president of the Montana State Council of Professional Fire Fighters. “Jon has always stood with our firefighters. We are grateful for Jon’s strong advocacy in Washington, and we are proud to endorse him in his campaign to return to the Senate.”

Tester has always fought for firefighters in the Senate, and will continue to roll up his sleeves and work hard to secure the resources that Montana’s firefighters need to do their job and keep Big Sky Country safe.
