Montana Seniors Endorse Farmer Jon Tester for United States Senate
Big Sky 55+ and its Members Endorse Jon Tester as Best Candidate to Fight for Montana Seniors
Billings—Today, Big Sky 55+, which represents seniors 55 and older across Montana, endorsed farmer and United States Senator Jon Tester as the best candidate to fight for Montana’s seniors.
Tester has been a champion for Montana seniors and has fought to make sure that every Montana senior is able to retire with dignity. Tester is fighting every day to defend Social Security and Medicare, two programs that hardworking Montanans have paid into their entire lives and are critical safety nets for the hundreds of thousands of Montanans they currently support.
“I’ll never stop fighting back against out-of-touch politicians who try to privatize or cut Social Security and Medicare,” Tester said. “These programs are cornerstones of our communities, not just for hundreds of thousands of Montana seniors, but for the next generation. I’m proud to have the endorsement of Big Sky 55+, and will continue to fight for Montana’s seniors in the Senate.”
“Jon has never backed down from a fight to make sure that we are following through on our promises to Montana seniors,” said Carol Juneau, Chair of Big Sky 55+. “Year after year, Jon goes to bat to make sure Montanans 55 and older have access to quality, affordable health care and economic security. With politicians trying to put Social Security and Medicare on the chopping block, we need a champion in Congress more than ever. Jon is that champion, and we’re proud to endorse him.”
Tester has been a strong voice for Montana seniors in the Senate. He has repeatedly pushed back on attempts to gut Social Security and Medicare. Tester has also fought to make sure Washington doesn’t balance the budget on the backs of Montana seniors, and voted against the tax bill, which will add $2 trillion to the debt and put critical programs for Montana seniors at-risk for deep cuts.
Matt Rosendale has threatened these critical programs for Montana seniors. He has vocally supported privatizing Social Security, risking seniors’ retirement on the stock market. Rosendale also voted to slash funding for prescription drug assistance for Montana seniors, and has called for the full repeal of the current health care law that has provided additional benefits and cut prescription drug costs for Montana seniors on Medicare.
