Montana Republicans Come Together in Support of Jon Tester

Republicans for Tester Launches with Statewide Support from Montana Republicans

Billings—Today, the campaign for Big Sandy farmer and United States Senator Jon Tester launched Republicans for Tester. Republicans for Tester is a group of conservative Republicans who support Jon Tester for his relentless defense of our Montana way of life.

Tester has a proven track record of working in a bipartisan manner to get things done. President Trump has signed 18 of Tester’s bills and another Tester bill sits on the President’s desk.

Republicans across the state are willing to cross party lines to support Tester because of his willingness to buck his own party when it is right for Montana. Last week, Tester was endorsed by the National Border Patrol Council, a key early endorser of President Trump.

Republicans for Tester is led by five Montana Republicans including current elected officials, Republican political appointees, and conservative Montanans who want to see things get done in Washington.

“When it comes to fighting for Montana, Jon Tester doesn’t care what party you belong to—he’s right there fighting alongside Montanans for our way of life,” said Columbia Falls City Councilman Mike Shepard. “As a Republican, I know Jon is always fighting for our veterans, our public lands, and he brings that Montana work ethic with him to the Senate. Jon rises above partisan politics and that’s why Montanans from all parties support him.”

“Jon Tester is rooted in Montana,” said  former Chair of the Silver Bow County Republicans Mick Ringsak. “ He still farms the land his grandparents homesteaded three generations ago. It is Montana’s best interest, and the country’s best interest, for Jon Tester to remain in the U.S. Senate. Fewer legislators coming to Congress with firsthand knowledge of farming makes it more challenging for rural America to have a voice in Congress, and we need Jon Tester there to fight for us.”

“I supported Donald Trump in 2016, and I support Jon Tester,” said Helena Republican and Veteran Tom Boyle. “When it comes to fighting for our veterans, standing up to politicians, securing our borders, and protecting our way of life, there is no one better than Jon Tester. Jon is always there with his sleeves rolled up ready to get to work for Montana and I can’t think of a better fighter for Montana in Washington.”

“Jon Tester knows personally what’s at stake for Montana and rural America in this election,” said Bozeman Republican and former Gallatin County GOP Chair Martin Coleman.  “He defends our public lands, fights to bring down our debt, and bridges the political divide like few other can. As a fiscally conservative Republican, I will be supporting Jon Tester this November.”

“Jon Tester is as Montana as it gets,” said Glasgow Mayor Becky Erickson. “He understands the needs of rural America and is willing to work across the aisle to get things done for Montana. He’s fought for our veterans and is helping Glasgow cut through bureaucratic red tape on our city’s levee issue. Jon is always ready to listen and never stops fighting for his constituents regardless of party.”
