Tester challenges fellow Senate candidates to 6 fall debates
Tester commits to debates in Butte, Helena, Great Falls, Billings, Missoula & Bozeman

BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana farmer Jon Tester today challenged Congressman Dennis Rehberg and Libertarian Dan Cox to six debates this fall in the race for U.S. Senate, in addition to the two debates already confirmed for June.
Tester’s campaign, Montanans for Tester, proposed the following locations and dates, based off of several standing invitations from independent organizations in communities across Montana. The dates and locations below all work for listed sponsors:
- Butte, September 5 at 5:30 p.m. (Sponsors: AARP)
- Helena, September 15 at 7:00 p.m. (Sponsors: Hometown Helena, Beartooth NBC )
- Great Falls, September 22 at 6:00 p.m. (Sponsor: Great Falls Chamber of Commerce)
- Billings, October 8 at 7:00 p.m. (Sponsors : Billings Gazette & MSU-Billings)
- Missoula, October 13 at 7:00 p.m. (Sponsors: Montana PBS & Montana Public Radio)
- Bozeman, October 20 at 6:00 p.m. (Sponsor: Montana Television Network)
Dan Cox has already joined Tester in committing to the six debates.
In addition to participation from all candidates whose name will appear on the Nov. 6 ballot, Montanans for Tester said debates must also have the ability to be widely broadcast in order to allow all Montanans the opportunity to watch or listen.
Tester on Wednesday announced that he will participate in a debate at 2 p.m. on June 16 in Big Sky, Mont., with Rehberg and Cox. Tester’s second debate will take place at 9 a.m. on Sunday, June 24, in Whitefish.
