Most recent poll shows Tester ahead in Montana’s U.S. Senate race
Race remains tight as Tester leads in Public Policy Polling survey
MSU-B poll conducted weeks ago
BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana farmer Jon Tester leads lobbyist-turned-Congressman Dennis Rehberg in the most recent U.S. Senate poll.
In a Public Policy Polling survey conducted between October 8-10, Tester leads Rehberg by two points.
- Jon Tester: 45%
- Congressman Dennis Rehberg: 43%
- Libertarian Dan Cox: 8 %
- Undecided: 4%

“The bottom line is polls will continue to show this race close as Jon’s momentum grows across Montana,” said Montanans for Tester campaign manager Preston Elliott. “In a race as close as this, there are moving pieces that change by the day and the timing of various polls matters.”
Montana State University-Billings released a separate poll on Thursday, but that survey was conducted September 27-30—long before Tester’s debate win in Billings earlier this week.
The director of the MSU-B poll, Dr. Craig Wilson, is the father of Evan Wilson, a top staffer on Rehberg’s campaign. This conflict of interest caused MSU-B to refrain from asking any questions about Congressman Rehberg in its 2010 poll.
