Transparency Week failure: Where is Dennis Rehberg?
As Jon Tester works, Congressman vacations
BILLINGS, Mont. – As Montana farmer Jon Tester travels the Big Sky State with a focus on creating jobs, Congressman Dennis Rehberg is spending his recess week—like his entire year—not working.
According to his own official schedule, and not counting press interviews or campaign activities, Rehberg has attended only four public events in Montana since the beginning of the year.
Citing his responsibilities as Montana’s U.S. Senator and his lifelong commitment to hard work, Tester this year has maintained his usual aggressive public schedule in Montana. During the last Congress, Tester visited all 56 counties in Montana.
Tester’s nearly 60 public events so far this year include two well-attended jobs workshops, meetings with high schools, veterans and business leaders, visits to small businesses and town hall meetings. The Senate’s only farmer, Tester has also begun planting his crops on his Big Sandy farm.
“Congressman Dennis Rehberg just isn’t used to the hard work that comes with being a Montana farmer—and his schedule reflects that,” said Tester spokesman Aaron Murphy. “Dennis Rehberg no longer believes he has to hold himself accountable to Montanans, so he thinks he can get away with not working. Montanans know Jon works harder than Dennis Rehberg—like he always has.”
Tester’s campaign today released two maps contrasting Tester’s and Rehberg’s public outreach so far this year. A map of Rehberg’s public 2012 schedule is online HERE. A map of Tester’s public 2012 schedule is online HERE.
