Missoulian: Tester tells Montana legislators he’s proud of stimulus vote

HELENA – U.S. Sen. Jon Tester, already facing a stiff re-election challenge in 2012, told the Montana Legislature on Friday that he’s proud he voted for the 2009 federal stimulus bill, which he said “pulled our nation away from the ledge of a catastrophic depression.”

“The only thing failed about it – was a vote against it,” he said, a clear reference to U.S. Rep. Denny Rehberg, R-Mont., who declared last week that he’ll challenge Tester next year.
