KULR: Tester Calls For Firm Troop Withdrawal From Iraq
U.S. Sen. Jon Tester says the Obama administration needs to follow through with a scheduled withdrawal of the 45,000-strong force from Iraq by December.
Tester said in a speech in the U.S. Senate that President Barack Obama needs to stick with the plan to pull out all troops except a small contingent needed for guarding embassies.
His comments Tuesday come amid reports that the administration is considering a proposal to leave up to 5,000 U.S. troops in Iraq next year to train Iraqi forces. No formal proposal has been made to Congress.
