KULR: Planned Parenthood Supporters Protest Budget Bill

BILLINGS – In February, the House proposed a spending bill that would lower the current deficit, and the proposal was to cut about $60 billion in spending to a number of programs, including Planned Parenthood.

Congressman Denny Rehberg voted in favor of the bill.

Wednesday night, a group of Planned Parenthood Montana supporters gathered outside the Republican’s Billings office to protest the measure. They were met by those who said the bill is necessary to save money.

Planned Parenthood representatives wanted to clear up what they said is a big misconception. “It’s against federal law to use any federal funding for abortions or abortion counseling, so the abortion services we do provide aren’t federal dollars. We provide primary and preventive services such as wellness exams, cancer screening, immunization, and contraception,” said Planned Parenthood Outreach Director, Fitzgerald Clark.
