KTVQ: Big Sky wins NW Regional, headed to Little League World Series
The Billing Big Sky little league team had already made history as the first Montana team to reach Saturday’s Northwest Regional championship. Now, they can add first Montana team to head to the Little League World Series to their resume.
Big Sky beat Bend, Oregon 7-1 in the regional title game, behind a grand slam from tournament MVP Cole McKenzie, sending them to the Little League World Series, which starts next week in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
McKenzie was 3-3 on the day with two singles in addition to the grand slam. He had 5 RBI in the game, giving him 12 in the six regional games Big Sky played. Ben Askelson also hit a homerun for the Montana state champs.
