KPAX: Montana’s Congressional delegation gets “social”
BILLINGS – Facebook, Twitter, blogs and other video technology have become the 21st century’s way of keeping in touch. Whether you’re “friends” with someone in Montana or a world away, social networking sites are keeping many up to date and informed, including some members of Montana’s Congressional delegation.
“This gives people who normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to be a part of the process, to gather information. Government works best when the people are involved in the government and this gives a lot of folks the opportunity to be involved,” said Montana Senator Jon Tester.
“It’s just a really good way of opening up the lines of communication. I kinda jokingly say to people, I have over 5,000 friends on Facebook and it turns out, they’re not all friends,” added Representative Denny Rehberg.
Just about anyone with an e-mail address can get an account and become a “so-called friend” of Senator Tester or Congressman Rehberg. Once on their pages, you can see what they are working on or just leave a message saying hello.
