Great Falls Tribune: Sportsmen’s Advisory Panel airs concerns over impacts of Interior budget cuts

Deep cuts in funding to an Interior Department Appropriations Bill passed last week by the U.S. House of Representatives drew heated reaction from members of the Montana Sportsmen’s Advisory Panel on Wednesday.

U.S. Sen. Jon Tester, D-Montana, organized a teleconference call among members of the council, which he established last fall, to gather input from Montanans.

The House version of the bill would cut 78 percent of the Land and Water Conservation Fund, which is financed by revenue from offshore oil drilling.
