Great Falls Tribune: Air Force to add gravel to muddy missile access roads

Air Force and Federal Highway Administration officials said Friday that crews will add clean aggregate to muddy missile site access roads near Moore in an effort to mitigate the effects of recent reconstruction efforts.

According to a news release issued Friday, Federal Highway Administration officials, congressional staff and Malmstrom Air Force Base officials met Wednesday at the base to discuss the use of calcium chloride on roadways in Malmstrom’s broad missile field.

The Air Force is in the midst of a six-year, $7 million-a-year project to overhaul roads to missile sites in northcentral and central Montana.
