Bozeman Daily Chronicles: MSU to create new home for growing number of military vets

MSU is turning one office in the Strand Union Building into a new Veteran Support Center. It will be a place where student veterans can get tutoring, counseling and advice about GI Bill benefits. They also could use computers and hang out with other vets.

MSU is creating the center because, with two wars and an improved GI Bill, the number of veterans attending the university has grown and more space is needed, said Brenda York, director of MSU’s Disability, Re-entry and Veteran Services.

Five or 10 years ago, MSU had around 200 or 300 vets, and last spring there were 489 enrolled. This fall she’s expecting the number of vets to exceed 500.
