NBC Montana: Tester Proposes Amendment To Help Small Farmers

MISSOULA, Mont. — Senator Jon Tester has proposed an amendment to the Food Safety Bill to protect small scale food producers from new federal regulations. Tester thinks the new regs could put small operators out of business.

He announced details of the amendment at a small farm in Missoula. The amendment would exempt farmers who gross less than $500,000 a year, and market products within 400 miles.
