KXLH: Tester tours construction at new VA mental health facility
U.S. Senator Jon Tester visited the construction site at the VA Hospital’s new mental health center on Tuesday.
Senator Tester came to Fort Harrison to take a first-hand look at what veterans in Montana will soon be utilizing.
He and others toured construction of the soon to be 24 bed-inpatient mental health facility.
The 20,000 square foot building attached to the west end of the Veterans Hospital will house patients in need of residential care for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or substance abuse problems.
VA Montana Healthcare director Robin Korogi said, “Eight of the beds are for acute psych; it’ll be a locked unit so that will enable our veterans not to have to go to Sheridan, Wyoming to the VA there for inpatient psychiatric care. The other 16 beds are for PTSD and for substance abuse.”
