KULR 8: Camelina Test Flight

BILLINGS – Montana grown fuel helped launch a flight Thursday that could open the door to major economic opportunities.

A Navy fighter jet fueled by oil from the camelina plant, which grows well in Montana, took to the skies above Maryland Thursday. Camelina can easily be converted into bio-fuel.

Senator Jon Tester wrote a federal crop insurance pilot program for farmers who grow Camelina. “This flight opens a whole new window for opportunity as it applies to camelina. This is homegrown, renewable energy that will help our domestic energy policies, help our domestic security, and it will create some jobs. Montana is going to have a front row seat, and it’s pretty darn exciting,” Tester said.
