Helena Independent Record: Tester to host veterans workshop
Montana veterans, service members and their families will be able to speak with officials of the Veterans Administration and attend sessions on health care, education, employment and other issues Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Best Western Heritage Inn in Great Falls.
The “Veterans Opportunity Workshop,” organized by Sen. Jon Tester, will include presentations by several VA officials, one-on-one discussions with state and military staff about specific cases, and a town hall-style meeting with Tester and Robin Korogi, director of VA Montana.
“A lot of veterans out there will tell you the health care is pretty darn good,” said Tester. “But sometimes it’s tough to get in the door.”
The day will start at 8 a.m. with “stand down” activities, an opportunity to donate clothing to Montana veterans and canned goods for Montana Supporting Soldiers.
Tester will speak at 8:30 a.m. From 9 to 9:40, the topic is “Education Benefits-Understanding the 21st century GI Bill.”
