ABC Montana: Sens. Tester, Baucus praise Wall Street crackdown
HELENA, Mont. (AP) — U.S. Sens. Jon Tester and Max Baucus are praising approval of the crackdown on the financial industry, while Rep. Denny Rehberg is not.
Tester says he is specifically pleased with provisions he worked on that make future regulation easier on community banks and lowers the cost of deposit insurance for them. He says the smaller banks common in Montana have been unfairly paying a disproportionate share of the insurance.
The bill cleared its final hurdle with a 60-39 Senate vote. It now goes to the White House for President Barack Obama’s signature.
