Great Falls Tribune: Baucus, Tester nominate students for military academies

Sens. Max Baucus and Jon Tester on Monday each announced 25 high school students nominated to U.S. military academies.

Nominees are chosen for academic achievement, leadership, community service and participation, and all applicants to the academies must be nominated by a member of Congress to be considered.

Baucus’ local and regional nominations include Brice P. Grotbo of Shelby to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo., the Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, N.Y., and the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.; and Jesse Boyd Skipper of Lewistown to the Air Force Academy; Jesse Lee Eaton Burroughs of Lavina to the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.; Angelo John Malisani of Great Falls to the Military Academy; Stefan James Hickethier to Military Academy and the Merchant Marine Academy; and William Douglas Miller of Chinook to the Merchant Marine Academy.

Tester nominated Scott Maurice Kelleher of Shelby to the Air Force Academy; Samantha Kay Clement and Catherine May of Great Falls, Ethan Andrew McKown of Roundup and William Douglas Miller to the Naval Academy; and Dustin Beck of East Glacier to the Merchant Marine Academy.

“Montanans are rightfully proud of our young men and women who dedicate their futures to public service in the military,” said Tester.
