Like most Montanans, Jon doesn’t believe in bailouts or the notion that a private company can be “too big to fail.”
That’s why Jon voted against the bailouts of both Wall Street and the U.S. auto industry. He believes the financial crisis of 2008 was a result of irresponsible behavior of big Wall Street banks operating “with no referees on the field.”
Jon supported reforming Wall Street to hold those banks accountable.

Jon also believes that large corporations — like credit card companies — shouldn’t be allowed to take advantage of hardworking middle class families, which is why Jon helped write the law that cracked down on credit card industry abuses.
