Standing up to Wall Street

As the only Senate Democrat to vote against both bailouts of Wall Street and the U.S. auto industry, Jon has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the hardworking Montanans on Main Street, not the big banks and special interests on Wall Street.

Jon believes the financial crisis that started two years ago was a result of the reckless behavior of big, Wall Street banks who were operating “with no referees on the field” to hold them accountable.

While Montana’s small community banks played by the rules and lived within their means, bad actors on Wall Street took advantage of the system, bringing the entire economy to its knees and putting millions of Americans out of work.

That’s why Jon has worked tirelessly to create jobs and boost business for Montanans, while helping to put together and pass a plan to hold Wall Street accountable, make sure big banks play by the rules, and prevent future financial meltdowns.

Jon also believes that large corporations — like credit card companies — shouldn’t be allowed to take advantage of hardworking middle class families, which is why Jon helped write the law that cracked down on credit card industry abuses.
