Fighting for MANG

The Montana Air National Guard (MANG) serves a critical mission for the security of Montana and our entire nation. Jon Tester is a proud advocate of MANG’s mission and he has a powerful record of strengthening that mission and protecting the hundreds of Montana jobs it provides.

One of the first things Jon did in the U.S. Senate was to meet with top Air Force officials to make sure they understood the role MANG plays in defending our country.

Since then Jon repeatedly fought to ensure that MANG maintains a flying mission and Great Falls maintains jobs.

In 2008, Jon met with the Air Force Secretary Michael Donley to express opposition to removing the F-15 fighters from MANG and urged him to visit the air base on Gore Hill. Secretary Donley came to Montana and agreed that the F-15s would not be moved in 2010 or immediately thereafter. And he recently secured an agreement to keep the planes in Great Falls through at least next spring — one that Congressman Rehberg opposed.

Whether it is protecting the F-15s or working to bring a new mission to Great Falls, Jon will continue to be a leader in standing up for MANG and the Airmen who serve our state and our country so well.
