Helena Independent Record: Editorial: Delegation ready to hear from you

A recent New York Times editorial labeled Sen. Jon Tester as a throwback to a bygone era. One of just two farmers in the U.S. Senate (Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley is the other), a body that used to be overrun by them, Tester is a bit of an outsider in an arena now dominated by career elected officials and shrewd politics.

He sports a flat top. He’s missing fingers on his left hand. He returns each weekend from the bustle of the nation’s capital to tend his Big Sandy organic wheat farm.

KULR 8: Economy top billing at Tester town hall

HELENA, Mont. (AP) — The economy took center stage at a town hall meeting hosted by Sen. Jon Tester in Helena.

The Montana Democrat says that small businesses are the key to job growth in the state and that Congress should do what it can to help such companies. He says the goal is to make sure that the economic recovery continues.

KRTV: Tester talks jobs in Helena

U.S. Senator Jon Tester has been touring Montana in recent weeks talking about jobs and the economy, and on Tuesday his travels landed him in Helena. The News Station’s Marnee Banks sat in on the forum to find out how Montanans are viewing their economy.

Tester told the forum, “I go around the state of Montana. I hear a lot of things, from a lot of folks, but I think jobs is the first thing out of most everybody’s mouth. I will look for opportunities to put people to work, I will look for opportunities where we can help expand competition in the marketplace.”

Missoulian: Tester tours Missoula stimulus projects, holds public meeting

Mayor John Engen had a concise explanation for Sen. Jon Tester of Missoula’s new North Higgins streetscape.

“It’s for fellows our size and larger to walk side by side without anyone getting injured,” Engen joked as he led the senator on a tour of the new 20-foot-wide sidewalks between Broadway and Alder Street. The creation of 15 good jobs, better bike lanes and room for restaurants to set out streetside tables were also benefits, he said.
